OOTD: Drinks In The Sun

Since the suns come out in the UK this week, I decided it was time to swap out the black skinny jeans for once. I wanted to put together an outfit that was ideal for an afternoon in the beer garden/a friends garden/my own garden! I wanted something that was (obviously) summery, with a somewhat smart, sophisticated look, still maintaining a casual feel.

I paired this high neck striped top which I picked up from Primark recently, with a pair of rolled up denim shorts, accessorizing with black. I'm totally in love with stripes, there a fool proof option for any occasion! I didn't want a heavy jacket due to the heat, but I did want a little something to cover up with and this lightweight kimono style jacket was ideal. I love this jacket for days like this, its ideal for seguing from day to night with ease.

The one decision I pondered over when putting together this outfit was heels or flats. I knew I wanted some sandals and in the end I decided on these black strappy shoes from New Look. The chunky heels makes them comfortable for walking and prevents them from looking too formal. Perfect for what I needed. I find its great to have shoes that balance the line between casual and formal.

The small satchel style bag is great for holding a phone, purse, lipstick and the few necessities needed. I completed the outfit with a plain black belt and the black/tan floppy hat. I felt the hat took the outfit from looking somewhat ordinary, adding more style to the final look. Accessorising an outfit is a great way to bridge the gap between casual and formal. If you find it's too formal you can always remove the hat or accessories chosen.

Monochrome Nails!

 Products used:

Barry M Nail Paint in 47 Black
Max Factor Glossfinity in 10 Snow White
WAH London Classy Glassy Glossy Top Coat
Avon Nail Decoration Fan Brush

I had a free afternoon to myself today so I thought, what better to do than give myself a manicure! This also gave me the perfect opportunity to try out the new nail decoration brush I was bought earlier in the week.

After I'd filed my nails down and applied a base coat, I used the white colour on all of my nails bar my ring fingers, which I covered black. I thought this would just add a little something to the design and with the opposite colours brushed over, would give a nice effect.

The colours applied well in two coats and while the brush was simple enough to use, I found it did need cleaning between every 1-2 nails in order to prevent it clogging and giving a thicker smudged effect. A little practice though and this could be a great tool to add a little something to your nails.

The WAH top coat is the best top coat I've ever used, it leaves such a thick shiny cover and really does live up to the glassy and glossy title.

What's your favourite nail art?

Hello!

So, I've been debating starting a blog for quite some time now and as is clear to see, I have finally taken the plunge!

For a long time I have enjoyed coming online and browsing through blogs and generally just being nosy. I like reading product reviews and seeing different fashion and style posts, but I also just enjoy reading about the different ways people live their lives. You've moved in with your boyfriend? Great! You've adopted a puppy? Amazing! You've taken up spin classes? Awesome!

I'm an economics graduate just trying to keep my head above water, hoping life will somehow fall into place while I figure myself out. I wanted to start this blog as a happy place where I can come online to let out my thoughts/feelings and escape real life for a bit (We all need to do it sometimes).

I have a great love for hair and beauty (most notably for nail art) and a keen interest in all things fashion related. I'm hoping to put out some fashion and beauty posts in addition to lifestyle chatty posts like this, but who knows what will happen? I can't promise an exciting blog or one that will particularly stand out in such an over-saturated market, but I'm just here to express myself and hope some of you join me in this.

Loves. Emma.
