So I seem to have done a few 'sorry I haven't posted for a couple of weeks, but I'm back now!' kind of posts in my short time blogging, and it's not something I like to do, but really, I've just not been in a great place personally. (Maybe one day I'll do an in depth post about my mental health?) Anyway, things are looking a lot brighter now so this should be happening less, unless of course I simply don't get chance to shoot any outfit photos because the weather in the north of England sucks!
Instagram, however, is the one place I am always consist on. My feed may not be the greatest, I can't stick to a theme and I don't go to very many aesthetically pleasing places to get great photos, but I always post at least 4 times a week, if not daily tbh. It's kinda upsetting that my growth on there is so slow, but ~woe is me. I know a lot of people get flack for their instagram use and how 'you only see the highlights' but isn't that the whole point of it?
This is probably all seeming a bit random and rambly, but for me, when I'm having bad days and can't get myself out of bed or don't want to talk to anyone, Instagram is the one place that helps me feel like I've got my life together. Sad, isn't it? But it doesn't require words, like twitter, and it's only a single photo as oppose to a shoot for the blog, and sharing a flat lay that makes my day look more aesthetically pleasing than it is, or an OOTD from the previous day that I was too busy to share, is actually a great accomplishment when I'm at my worst. And why should we be tearing people down for doing something so seemingly harmless that makes them feel good?
Yeah, you might be sick of seeing avocado on toast (aren't we all, a little?) but if you're proud of making that meal then go ahead and share it! If you've saved up for months to buy that new macbook, post a damn photo of it if you want to, it's your social media to share whatever the hell you like.
Annoying algorithms aside, Instagram is my favourite social media platform, and I just hate the whole 'instagrams such a bad influence for young people' because they choose who to follow, and if you don't have the capacity to understand that you're only seeing someones highlight reel, then you shouldn't be on there. Sorry.
Side note - I'm actually quite enjoying the instagram stories too - soz snapchat!

Styling Up The Basics #3
First and second posts of this mini-series.
The third and final post of this little series is here! I've quite enjoyed doing this as a change to my usual OOTD style posts, so I definitely think it's something I'll be trying again at some point. While the first post was on the dressier side and the second more street-style, I'm not all too sure where this one fits on the scale. Somewhere in the midst of the two I'd guess! But as usual there's two key ideas behind the styling.
Statement Hat
If there's one accessory that I am always a fan of, it is, without a doubt, a hat. Whether it's getting dressed up with a fedora, a floppy hat in the sun or string casual with a baseball cap, I just love to rock a hat! I've said it about everything in this series (I guess that's the point of it) but hats really do transform an outfit and just add a little extra! Dress everything up a bit more, y'know?
Add Bling!
Perhaps the most obvious accessory choice would be jewellery! I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but for the longest time I haven't really been into jewellery all that much. I always wear a selection of rings, but necklaces/bracelets/anything else, I don't seem to bother with too often, and I don't really know why! Probably just laziness tbh. But I have been trying to make more of an effort though lately and I do think it can just complete an outfit and make everything look that bit more polished. I've not actually worn this body chain out before and now I'm a bit obsessed with it.

Styling Up The Basics #2
If you missed part one of this mini series, you can find it here. But this time I'v gone for quite a different ~vibe with the outfit. It's exactly the same jeans and tee otherwise it kinda defeats the purpose of this series, doesn't it? But I've gone for a much more casual, street-style effect. Like before though, there are two key focus points to making the outfit pop.
A choker/neckscarf
A trend that is absolutely everywhere at the moment is chokers. I have a growing little collection myself because, sometimes, I'm just a sucker for trend following! But this time I've gone for the neck scarf. This one is actually a bandana which I didn't wear all that much so I cut it into half to wear as a neck tie instead. Always recycle, guys! I think any kind of neckwear just smartens an outfit up and adds a little extra too your look.
Statement Accessories
In this case, by statement accessories I mean co-ordinating accessories because I'm all about pulling an outfit together with some good l'fashioned matching! And who doesn't love a bit of animal print in their life? Only faux, obvs. This time I went for a snake print effect because I just can not get enough of these boots. Yes, I know, boots in summer. What you gonna do?

Styling Up The Basics #1
For the longest time as a teenager I simply stuck to the basics in all of my outfit choices. I kind of lost all confidence I had and just wanted to blend in, never stand out or be noticed. Obviously, I've gotten a lot more confidence again now, but I thought in ode to this, I would do a little mini series on different ways you can make a basic outfit pop. Said basic outfit being the classic white tee and black skinnies. Absolute wardrobe staples for me! I'm also really getting into accessorising my outfits more and more lately, so perfect timing, huh.
The bralet/harness
I understand this certainly isn't for everyone, it can be a struggle finding cute bra's that fit as it is, never mind fancy bralets, but if you're comfortable/confident enough then it really can transform an outfit. Worn either under a t-shirt or over like here, it's just a look I am fully on board with at the moment. I love the contrast of the black lingerie against a crisp white top, too! This caged bra is my favourite right now, because it's a fully supportive style and goes perfectly with V-necks. Just adding a separate harness alongside your usual bra is another way to go though!
Socks with Sandals
Classic dad on holiday style, transformed into a fashion statement. Again this isn't for everyone, my brother HATES it when I wear any combination of socks and sandals around him. So obviously I do it even more so, because what are sisters for, but to annoy? Anyway I just love how much of a stand out look it can be! Obviously, it doesn't work as well with skinny jeans as it does with a pair of crop kick flares or an a-line skirt, but for the purpose of this mini-series we're just gonna roll with it.

Also, I just want to take a moment to appreciate this bag and the fact that it's from Primark! Yeah, I know. I don't often buy high street bags at all really, but sometimes you just can't add up a bargain can you?
